Love

So Jacob, in a matter of one week, came to New York for me and asked me to be his girlfriend, again. For the third time.

And I said yes, for the third time. I am happy. :)

The result will be utter/complete poorness..

This weekend I'm going up to Lehigh to visit Kara and see THE ROOTS.

When I talked to her last night she casually mentioned it, and asked me "You listen to them, right?"
DO I?!?!?!
So I decided to take a bus up to PA to see them and party with Kara, since that is very long overdue. Plus, it is THE ROOTS.

Above that, I'm even more stoked because when I go back to the city on Sunday I plan on seeing Fuerza Bruta. According to every critic in New York it is an amazing show. Plus, I only have a few more weeks to play in the city, so why not spend some money?

And then on Wednesday night I'm seeing Ratatat with my friend Courtney at Terminal 5. It should be epic.
And then on Thursday I go to New Jersey to see Left Alone, but I can care less about seeing Left Alone. I've missed hanging out with Jacob.
And then on Friday I might or might not go up to Philly, to not see Left Alone but hang out with Jacob more and eat a Philly Cheesesteak. The last time I was in Philly the Cheesesteaks we got were not legit and were soaked in grease. Re-do please.
And then on Saturday I go back up to the Ville for Quad Jam, the most epic party thrown by our school all year. Apparently Pitbull is performing.

Not very stoked about this one. I'd much rather see The Roots again. But if I'm wasted enough, WHICH I WILL BE, it could be loads and loads of fun.

In a nutshell, the next two weeks, if gone down properly, might just be the two greatest weeks of my life.

Okay, so Brooklyn is mighty awesome.

I first made the mistake of getting off at the wrong subway stop, in which I walked five blocks being the ONLY WHITE PERSON IN SIGHT. Turns out I had accidently ended up in the projects again (called Lafayette Gardens, who woulda guessed that housed poor people?), and my Aunty was scared for my life when my phone died and I wasn't picking up. It also turns out that the projects I wandered into was not far from the birth site of my idol, the Notorious B.I.G., therefore the journey full of mean glares and womanizing comments was TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!! :)

I went to this bad-ass tea house, with 100+ tea choices, and ended up drinking the best green tea since Japan, a white peach tea, and a peppermint black tea. FUCKING ONO AS THEY WOULD SAY IN DA AINA! I wish I took pictures, but then again that would just be pictures of tea..which is boring.

Then we went to this bar in Williamsburg (hipsters off the heezy), which didn't card me. I think it was the red lipstick. Whatever. Still awesome. I had about 4 beers and a rum and coke which had far too much coke, but did the trick none the less. It made the windy, cold walk back to the apartment completely possible. I wish I got pictures of that as well, but then again that would just be more pictures of me drunk..which is not what I need.

This is sunny Brooklyn! See the tree with budding leaves? I love it. It has been 3 months since I've seen leaves on a tree, and these little buds are building so much suspense. Full on Spring is due in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to be warm again. Seriously.

Here is the most beautiful bridge in all of New York, the Brooklyn Bridge.

And here is the most beautiful city in the world, from the most beautiful bridge.

And here is Little Italy, where I've traveled the ghetto and beyond, from the top of a musuem.

And here is a cute dog.

Then it was home for Spicy Indian Potatoes and Zucchini Cakes, made me yours truly. I also baked a Guiness Chocolate Cake. Which TASTED AWESOME.

Other than that, I'm back up in Purchase. I have a shitload of work to do by the end of the week, so I probably shouldn't blog.

Other other than that...I miss Hawaii. Totally throwing a Luau party when I get back..cheeeeeh

Love,
V

FASHION POST #1: Spring 2009 Couture

After being pleased with the spring 2009 ready-to-wear collections, I had extremely high expectations for the couture lines. From the trends we saw, I hoped to be presented with wonderfully insane and over-the-top couture. Not so much. There were many shit collections. Thank you to Christian Dior, Chanel, and Jean Paul Gaultier. They are clear winners of Spring 09.

THE WINNERS:

CHANEL: I loved the all white theme, because white is the perfect spring time color. Not to mention white jeans are coming back in style, which started in the underground Europe fashion scene last season and has finally debuted to the runway this season. White gives a sense of freshness, and combined with the lace and crystal detailing in Chanel's collection...wonderful!

CHRISTIAN DIOR: Wasn't the best out of the three, but still better than everyone else in the sense that he had an eclectic mix of time periods thrown together. The tight waist, 50's full skirt, and 17th century picturesque hats. The floral prints were a little bit like tacky tapestry, but it worked. I didn't like the last piece (the dark burnt red dress) simply because it looked like a costume from the set of Girl With The Pearl Earring gone all wrong.

LILY DONALDSON! favorite model!

designer john galliano, sporting probably the best flower scarf ever.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: Best collection. The African-ness of ready-to-wear was transformed into couture magically. Seriously. The feathers, detailing, movement, subtle colors, tailored style...perfection. Everything has a sort of timeless class to it as well, like these designs can be worn 20 years later and still be applauded as innovated couture.

Lily Donaldson..yes I am a little obsessed with her. But hey she makes clothes look good.

THE SO-SO'S:

GIVENCHY: Mostly boring. Lots of suits. Luckily in the collection of bland I found two pieces that I absolutely loved.

LILY DONALDSON! AGAIN!

ELIE SAAB: Can you say "Oscar Red Carpet Kiss Ass"? Because I can. Although his pieces were beautiful, they're so generic. Yet you know every single celebrity in Hollywood is going to wear his collection, which is going to make it successful despite the total lack of imagination put into it.

THE LOSERS:

VALENTINO: Throw up in my mouth.

GEORGIO ARMANI: Throw up in my mouth.

How unflattering is that skirt?! Even Lily could barely pull off this piece (but she is still da bomb).

If you read this entire blog, you have no life...as do I. :)

Brooklyn, Go hard!

I'm in Brooklyn this weekend visiting my Aunty Hi'ilei and her boyfriend Jake. It should be great! If Sunday is sunny, we are thinking of having an Easter picnic in Central Park. Cliche as hell, but so New York!!!!

I also learned last night that Brooklyn previously was "Breuckelen" (named 1646), after the town now spelled Breukelen, Netherlands. (Source: Wikipedia)

Other things about Brooklyn that are cool:
1) Biggie Smalls
2) Jay-Z
3) Hipsters
4) Brooklyn Bridge
5) Art studio, coffee shop, art studio, coffee shop, art studio, coffee shop...etc. etc.
6) Beacons Closet (a thrift store where all the rich kids of Long Island and the Upper East Side sell their clothes for a fraction of the price. Then clothes are resold, giving me designer shit I can afford!)

But really, all we care about is #1.

(I'll blog about my latest obsession for underground, heavy hip-hop later)

Happy Easter!
Love,

NOTORIOUS!

My life is not that interesting!

I was reading my old blog I had on here, which was just a series of me complaining my life away so I deleted it. Hah.

THEREFORE! I'm going to try to be as interesting/compelling/funny as possible.

Warning: There is going to be a lot of fashion, since myspace blogs aren't working for my detailed fashion blogs..

Warning 2: There will be a lot of Lily Donaldson, a lot of Perez Hilton, a lot of food, and a lot of Barack Obama.
